Privacy notice

This notice explains what Private Hire Tax handles when you create an account and prepare a Self Assessment. The sole trader legal name and correspondence address are not published yet. This notice will be reviewed again before public release.

Account information

If you create an account, Private Hire Tax stores the name and email address you enter so you can sign in and return to your work.

Your password is handled by the authentication service used to sign you in. Public pages do not show account details.

Taxpayer details

A return can store the identity and tax details you choose to enter. That can include your legal name, address, date of birth, National Insurance number, Unique Taxpayer Reference, tax residence, and a short description of the private hire work.

Those details are there so the return can be prepared. They are shown inside your signed-in account, not on the public website.

Tax-return information

Income, expenses, the choices you make in the return, and the tax estimate calculated from those figures are stored with the return so you can leave and come back.

The estimate is produced by the software from what you entered. It is not a copy of an HMRC assessment.

Documents

File upload is not currently available. If you record a document name or reference, that text is stored with your return. The original file is not uploaded by the product today.

Authentication

Signing in uses a session cookie so the application can keep you in the right account. That cookie is required for the signed-in product to work.

Private Hire Tax does not currently use analytics or advertising cookies.

Data security

A return is available in the signed-in account it belongs to. Access depends on that sign-in. Public pages are written so they do not display taxpayer or return data.

This notice does not claim a security certification, an encryption standard, or an independent audit. Those details are not stated because they are not confirmed here.

Data retention

Information you save remains available in your account so you can continue the return. A fixed retention period has not been published yet.

You can permanently delete the signed-in account from Account. That deletes the account and the tax information stored with it in the application. The account stays in place if deletion cannot be completed.

Your rights

You can see the personal information in your signed-in account, correct taxpayer details there, or delete the account from Account. You can also ask for a copy of that information or object to a use of it once a support contact is published.

This notice does not publish an ICO registration number, because that registration is not confirmed here.

Support contact details will be published before launch.
