Terms
Terms of use
These terms describe Private Hire Tax as preparation software for UK private hire drivers. They are a starter set. The sole trader legal name and correspondence address are not published yet, and these terms will be confirmed before public release.
Private Hire Tax is software designed to assist with Self Assessment. It is not a substitute for individual professional tax advice where a user's circumstances require it.
Purpose of the service
Private Hire Tax is software that helps you prepare a UK Self Assessment for private hire driving. It gives you an account, a guided return, and a place to keep the figures you enter.
Your responsibility
You are responsible for the information you enter and for checking it. The software can only use what you provide. If a statement, receipt, or personal detail is wrong, the return and the estimate will be wrong too.
Tax estimates
Figures described as an estimate are calculated by the software from your entries. They are not an HMRC assessment, a bill, or a promise of the amount you will have to pay.
HMRC filing
Direct HMRC filing is not enabled yet. Using Private Hire Tax does not submit a return to HMRC and does not create a live filing. A workflow that helps you prepare figures is not the same as HMRC accepting a return.
What the software does not cover
There is no guarantee that every tax scenario is supported. The product is aimed at a straightforward private hire Self Assessment.
Cases that involve other income, capital gains, foreign matters, or anything the screens do not ask for may be outside what the software can prepare. If your circumstances are more complex than the product supports, you should take advice from someone qualified to give it.
Availability
The service may be changed, interrupted for maintenance, or withdrawn. Access is not guaranteed to be continuous.
Account security
You are responsible for your password and for use of your account. Sign out on a shared device. If you think someone else has used the account, change the password once a support contact is published.
You can permanently delete the signed-in account from the Account page. Deletion removes that account and the tax information stored with it in the application.
Intellectual property
The software, visual design, text, and walkthrough belong to the operator of Private Hire Tax. You may use them to prepare your own return. You may not copy the product in order to run a competing service.
Limitation
Private Hire Tax is a software service. To the extent the law allows, the operator is not liable for tax, interest, or penalties that follow from information you entered, for decisions you take from an estimate, or for loss caused by the service being unavailable.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Changes
These are starter terms. They will be confirmed before public release. If the terms change, the updated version will be published on this page.
Questions about these terms can go through support.
